Minecraft was YouTube's Second-most Popular Search Query In 2022.


Mojang's breakout smash Minecraft took second place in Google's list of the most popular YouTube search queries of 2014, ranking immediately behind the word "music" in terms of the frequency of searches.



According to Google, the word "Minecraft" was more frequently searched on YouTube in 2014 than the term "movies." PewDiePie, a gaming personality was also among the top searched terms on YouTube in 2014.  https://stockalicious.com/ This was the reason behind searches for Disney's Frozen as well as for musicians Drake and Beyonce.



Google reports that users are more likely to search for gaming-related content, and that engagement is on the rise, even though many of those surveyed do not identify themselves as gamers. YouTube videos from the "Gaming" category topped the top of the service's Top 10 Most Popular list on a variety of days in October of 2014.



"A Google Consumer Survey fielded in October 2014 of people who reported watching gaming videos on YouTube revealed that only a portion of this group (37 percent) considers themselves 'gamers"" the report says. "When asked why they watched gaming videos, people mentioned the entertainment aspect and also as learning new strategies or tips.



The report continues: "We also wanted to find out why they watch videos from creators like PewDiePie and SkyDoesMinecraft. A few of the fans responded, 'Because they're hilarious! These videos were also described as stand-up comedy. A young gaming creator sums up interest with the following analogy: 'You don't have to play soccer to enjoy it on TV.'"
